Jim Barnett (born 1945) is an American flamenco and blues-rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer.
Barnett has been writing songs, recording, and playing live in a wide variety of musical genres for over forty years.
He has written and contributed to multiple top ten radio hits including the Chain Reaction's Lady in Red and Si Tu Quieres Bailar by Julian. He composed the musical score for the original stage production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, directed by Lee Sankowich. Jim's contributions have ranged from writing jingles for television commercials, to performing with doo wop groups like the Platters and the Drifters, to composing and performing his own music.
Working in such a wide variety of musical genres: blues, rock-n-roll, rhythm and blues, pop, country western, salsa, doo wop, and flamenco; Jim has formed a truly eclectic and original brand of music.
His newest album Songs for Children of All Ages uses complex and rhythmic grooves, clever and challenging lyrics that enlighten and tickle the funnybone, and universal themes that are truly relevant and inspiring to children of all ages.
